Gather and create with earth’s colors in their purest form.

Online Workshop

There is something sacred about returning to color in its most honest form—gathered, ground, and slowly brought to life by your own hands. Poetic Pigments is an invitation into that process. A quiet unfolding into the art of seeing, of noticing, of creating with intention. In this course, you will step into a slower, more thoughtful rhythm of making as you explore the beauty and versatility of pure pigments and natural materials. Together, we will move beyond the expected and into a practice that feels both rooted and expansive. You’ll learn to: •Create anthotype sun prints, letting light and time reveal soft, fleeting impressions Make your own hand-rolled pastels from pure pigment •Explore natural dyeing on fabric, embracing the organic variations that emerge •Mix and formulate your own watercolors, inks, and dyes •Build custom pigment palettes that reflect your personal aesthetic •Experiment with charcoal printing techniques •Paint a finished canvas using the pigments and mediums you’ve created This is more than a study of materials—it’s a return to the heart of creativity. A practice of working with what is natural, tactile, and beautifully imperfect. Whether you are an experienced artist or just beginning, Poetic Pigments will guide you into a deeper, more intuitive way of creating—one that lingers, inspires, and quietly transforms the way you see both art and life.

Daune Pitman

Daune Pitman grew up among a family of entrepreneurs, artists, and gatherers in North Carolina. She owned her first business when she was six and created pen and ink drawings of the beach each day after school, and then went door-to-door selling them. Morning walks in the garden, markets, coffee, fresh flowers, books, a beautifully set table, delicious food, faith, family, travel, adventure, great company….these are a few of her favorite things. Daune and her husband, Keith, are former professional ballet dancers. After spending many years performing professionally in companies nationwide she and Keith have found themselves nestled in a cottage in Eastern NC, where they love to gather people, dream, and launch adventures. After homeschooling their three children, they are new empty nesters. She believes our homes are our most powerful place of ministry, and with a passion for home, gathering, creativity, and travel, Daune launched The Cottage Table Experience and hosts long table gatherings, live workshops on creative home + hospitality + gathering, and creative retreats abroad and in the U.S. While being very content with where she is, she is homesick for places she has never been, and believes wholeheartedly that we should seize the common occasions and make them great!
